My Story
What we really want to do is work with as many organizations as possible to help them improve their approach to leadership, help them function more effectively in teams, and become better at practicing innovation. Because we believe that if businesses learn to do those three things in the right way, then people will have a better experience of work, teams will unleash their Ferrari-like potential, and organizations and society will flourish.
Dr. Jay Carson
Dr. Jay B. Carson is an organizational leadership expert and consultant, and what he loves to do is help organizations, teams, and individuals embrace the dance between leading and following. He previously taught over 2200 undergraduate and graduate students as a professor in the Department of Management and Organizations at SMU’s Cox School of Business from 2006 - 2019, and has received many awards for outstanding teaching and service to the community.
He earned his Ph.D. from the University of Maryland in Organizational Behavior with a minor in Human Resource Management and Strategy. He also earned a B.S.B.A. in Accounting from Samford University, where he graduated summa cum laude and was the Valedictorian of his class.
Prior to his career in academia, Dr. Carson was an employee and consultant for a variety of organizations, including PriceWaterhouseCoopers, Sonat Marketing, Protective Life Corporation and the State of Maryland, Department of Parole and Probation. He has also worked with executive groups at companies such as Hunt Consolidated, LTK (rewardStyle), Unilever, Chesapeake Energy, Toyota, Baylor Scott & White Health, Torchmark, Six Flags, Samson Resources, PrimeSource Brands, Ben E. Keith Food Distribution, and Pioneer Natural Resources, as well as many others., and was s He also created and taught leadership curriculum for young Burmese leaders as part of the Bush Institute Liberty and Leadership Program for many years.
When he is not working with clients, he enjoys live music, playing guitar, traveling, enjoying the outdoors, community philanthropy, whiskey collecting, and spending time with family and friends.
